Netcast 109 – Peanut Gallery

In tonight's netcast I get to broadcast live from the San Francisco Rackspace office. This provides me with both better equipment and a crowd of ruffians amusing themselves in the background. Shane and I talk about SPTechCon and how to make ourselves better people. I also talk about December 2011 CU and a couple of potential problems with it.

Re: Where's Laura?

I'm glad you enjoyed the episode. As you can tell, we enjoyed making it. :) The double act worked, though I could use a better partner. If I could get Shane to move to Iowa, maybe I'd give him a permanent spot. Maybe. I think having two people does make for a better show, and for over a year I've trying to get the technology to cooperate so I could do that regularly. Hopefully we'll get that all sorted out.

Thanks for watching.

SP2010 Site Quick Launch

I did not know where to post this question so I thought I would just respond to one of your blogs.  How did you generate the quick launch control on your 2010 site that lists all content with icons and a scrollbar?  Thanks for your netcasts, they are a real help.

Re: SP2010 Site Quick Launch

Hi Scott,
It's under Site Actions > Site Settings > Navigation. The left navigagtion is referred to as "Current Navigation."

SP2010 Site Quick Launch (Current Nav)

When I go to the Current Navigation settings, I can opnly set the text for each of the links.  Your side control has the actual icons that represent each list and library and it is all in one list.  IS that an OOTB setting, or did that require some custom code (I did nto think you did that kind of stuff).
