Netcast 106 - Two Men in a Hotel Room

With the intimate setting of my hotel room, my guest Trevor and I discuss why I couldn't enable blob cache for a SharePoint Search Server instance. I also mention a document you can use to determine if your SQL instance has the necessary performance for SharePoint. I share a story on how I screwed up using Export-SPWeb, so you don't have to. Then I mention a great document that helps answer the question, "What is SharePoint?"

ebook formatting

Todd, I have heard you mention that you are working on a new book in kindle format. I have your SP 2010 Admin book on the kindle, and i like the format, except that some of the powershell code gets truncated so that the entire code cannot be read. It looks fine on the PC version of the Kindle reader, but on the reader itself, it is unusable. I have seen similar problems in other books so i am guessing that many of the publishers are just not very careful when they layout the pages. I hope that this is an issue that you can prevent when you create your next book. Keep up the good work, i listen to all of your podcasts, and learn something every week.

Re: ebook formatting

Thanks for listening Dean. I agree, the formatting in ebooks is very difficult. I'm struggling with a couple of chapters in the book. I'll make sure and pay attention to the PowerShell snippets and see if I can make them easier to read.
