My SPTechCon schedule

SPTechCon invades San Francisco in a few days. Below are the events I plan to be at. I’ve uploaded ICS files, so if you want to add any of these to your calendar just click the ICS file link and add it. If I’m not at one of the events below I’m probably hanging out at the SharePoint911 booth in the exhibit hall. As always please stop by and say ‘Hi’ if you see me.

W-5 Advanced SharePoint 2010 Administration

Monday – All day workshop (ICS calendar file)

In this full-day session, we will cover deeper admin topics. We'll be hitting all the popular buzzwords: database GUIDs, Kerberos, Forms-Based Authentication, SQL Server Reporting Services, the User Profile Service, and Search. If you've been administrating SharePoint 2010 for a while and want to make your admin knowledge deeper and wider, this is the session for you.

Netcast recording

Monday 6:30 – Same room as our workshop (ICS calendar file)

Join me for my weekly netcast. Hecklers welcome, hell, encouraged.

208: Upgrading to SharePoint 2010 from SharePoint 2007, Part I
Tuesday 11:00 – 12:15 (ICS calendar file)

You've spent the last three years convincing everyone how great SharePoint 2007 was and doing everything you can to keep it spinning like a top. Now SharePoint 2010 is here and it's time to start planning to move to it. In this session, you'll learn what your upgrade options are and how to determine which is best for your environment. This session will cover the planning considerations of your upgrade, and get your appetite whetted for the demonstrations in Part II.

308: Upgrading to SharePoint 2010 from SharePoint 2007, Part II
Tuesday 1:15 – 2:30 (ICS calendar file)

After all the talking we did in Part I, here is where we put it into action. We'll demonstrate the upgrade methods we discussed in the previous session. We'll also show some of the problems you may have and how to deal with them.

Idera book signing

Tuesday 6:30 Booth 302 (ICS calendar file)

Shane and I will be signing books and spreading cheer. Only 25 books available. First come, first served

502: Taming the User Profile Service Beast
Wednesday 8:30 – 9:45 (ICS calendar file)

We've all heard horror stories about the dreaded and scary User Profile Service in SharePoint 2010. In this session we will explain how the User Profile Service's brain thinks, and why it does some of the things it does. If the demo gods look upon us favorably we will also walk through a configuration of the User Profile Service to show that it can be done by mortal man.

Book signing

Wednesday 12:00 Booth 101 (ICS calendar file)

The books aren’t free, but if you have one, we’ll write funny things in it. Well, I’ll write something and Shane will try to write something funny that will really be lame.

[Correction: Wrox did send a few free books, so show up even if you don't already have one and maybe we can hook you up with a free one.]

705: PowerShell: An Admin's Best Friend
Wednesday 12:45 – 2:00 (ICS calendar file)
Forget diamonds and dogs, PowerShell is the SharePoint 2010 administrator's best friend. In this session we will show you how to accomplish many common administrator tasks with PowerShell. We will cover some installation techniques, object creation, and troubleshooting. By the end of this session the PowerShell console prompt will no longer feel cold and uncaring. Now PowerShell will feel warm and inviting, awaiting your commands.
