Netcast 102 - Move Your Logs!

In the first episode of 2012 I talk about my log moving blog post. I also mention some corrections I've made to older blog posts. Revisionist blogging, if you will. Then I talk about a new project I'm working on, and a patch I'm pretty sure you should install.

How to check if disks (for log or index) are "fast"

Hi Todd,

I'm just listening to this Netcast and since you mentioned "fast disks" more than once:
How do you check if disks are fast?
Is there a best practice?

Our server guys say the disks (SAN) are "fast" and I would like to check that out (I only trust them a little ;)

Hey Oke,
If you have access to log into the SQL server you can run something like SQLIO to get the raw numbers on how well the drives perform.
