5/22/2009As you may have read on my blog, SP2 for SharePoint 2007 came out a month ago. The SharePoint Team Blog announced a teensy tiny little problem they've found with SP2. It seems that when you install SP2 on a SharePoint product that is licensed (MOSS, Forms Server, Project Server and Search Server) SP2 resets the license back to a trial license. Now, on the surface this might seem like a big deal, but I don't think it is. First, the trial is 180 days, so you have six months from the time you install SP2 to fix the issue. That's six months of everything working just fine. The other reason I don't think this is a big deal is because the fix is as simple as just reentering your non-trial license key. Overall, I don't think it's a big deal.
You can get the whole story on this at the SharePoint Team Blog. If you leave a comment, go easy on them. J
