Welcome to Seattle
I made it to Seattle for the 2008 SharePoint Conference.  It's sold out and the number of attendees is huge.  My STSADM session is Wednesday at 2:30 in room 6ABC and my SQL session is Thursday at 10:30 in room 6E.  I'd love to have you drop by if you're at the SPC.  I'll also be at the Ask the Experts lunch on Wednesday.  Swing by and say hi.

Great sessions

Hi Todd,
Great sessions, I really enjoyed them.
I am working with Sharepoint for a while now and I am very familiar with stsadm and find my way in SQL box. I would love to hear more about your experince with SQL 2008 for MOSS. I would start recommend it to my clients after I get a chance to learn about it to be able to answer questions and troubleshoot.

SharePoint 2007 License question (standard vs. Enterprise) I already looked at Microsoft site

Hi Todd,
Could you please point me in the right direction where I can find some information/documentation about different types of SharePoint license modes (Standard vs. Enterprise) and which one to choice from and what should be considered before making that decision? Also, I am planning on setting up SharePoint on the internet, how does licensing work in that scenario?
I would really appreciate your quick response

Re: SharePoint 2007 License question (standard vs. Enterprise) I already looked at Microsoft site

Hi Murad,
This link lays out what is included with each license.  It includes what the Enterprise license adds to the Standard.

If you want Internet access to MOSS you need the Internet license also.  There's some confusion about how that license works, but here's a pretty good writeup by Tom Rizzo that explains it:

I'm no licensing expert, but I believe if you're using SQL on the backend (and you have to with MOSS) then you also need SQL licenses on top of the SharePoint ones.  Once you get to the point of buying licenses you need to bring a Microsoft salesperson into the discussion.  Don't trust some yahoo on the Internet.  :)

Re: Great sessions

Hi Carmen,
Glad you enjoyed the sessions.  I'll be doing a session on SharePoint with Windows 2008 and SQL 2008 at TechEd IT Forum in Orlando in June.  I'll have more information then.  In the meantime it's pretty easy to test out.  You can download a VHD or install of the SQL 2008 CTPs.  I've just installed SharePoint onto those and started poking around.  That's where I've figured out the stuff I've figured out.

Great Session on STSADMIN at SPC2008

Great job with your session at the big show.  You gave a really helpful / high utility review of STSADMIN.  I'm especially impressed by anyone who could handle the size of that main conference room.  Well done

I wanted to reference your presentation in a blog post over at community.bamboosolutions.com  Are the slides hosted somewhere I can link to?  Any other suggestions for a good web resource on STSADMIN?

Re: Great Session on STSADMIN at SPC2008

Thank you so much for your kind words.  I did that session at the SPC in Dubai and Istanbul last week.  You can find the slides here, http://www.toddklindt.com/blog/Files/SPC%202008%20Dubai%20Stsadm%20%20-%20Todd%20Klindt.pptx and the scripts here, http://www.toddklindt.com/blog/Files/OFF301scripts.zip.  Just make sure I get credit.  :)  I would like to look at some of Bamboo's offerings.  Could you leave an email address I can contact you at?  I'll make sure it doesn't show up in the clear here so spammers can't get it.

Thanks,
tk
